Substance abuse affects people of all ages, and older adults are no exception. At SPOP, we aim to help older people overcome substance abuse and allow them to live full and healthy lives. Our specially trained social workers provide outpatient services for older adults who have a psychiatric illness and a problem with alcohol, or other substance abuse issues. Services are provided at the SPOP Clinic located at 302 West 91st Street, at senior sites in Manhattan, and in the client’s home if the individual is unable to travel. Services We begin by providing each individual with a comprehensive evaluation conducted by a trained clinician and a psychiatrist. Upon acceptance, our client will receive one or more of the following services, tailored to his or her specific needs:
